How 2 became 1 -- 1/4/12 & 1/5/12

 It would be easy to pair these gold striped khaki trousers with white blouse and a brown or similarly colored khaki blazer, but I have to be different right :) Here, I am wearing a thrifted snake skin printed blouse and a grey jacket.

 This skirt is rather sheer (winter taboo...HA!), but I don't want to wait until spring to wear it again so I am wearing leggings underneath and tall leather slouch boots. I am wearing this "smedium" sweater as a top because its so tight I can't really wear it over anything. Initially, I tied the tie like a bowtie with a big bow and intended to wear it as a headband. I like the way it sits here, quietly covering the cleavage.


 Same printed blouse. Same sweater and boots. 
Wearing these white pants--also a winter taboo--as riding pants for more of a jockey-esque look

30 Under 30       I have been grinding hard this year trying to get my business off the ground that I've neglected the simple pleasure of writing and blogging. I've been thinking a lot about what I want for myself. After taking a homebuyer's class, I feel really empowered and focused. The Tie Belt 12/15/11

Nothing says feminine like silk and satin (among other things), so I've added this thrifted silk magenta tie to my leopard print skirt by wearing it as a belt. Its a nice touch because its brighter than the burgundy cardigan and black camisole yet it still seems to blend overall. The skirt is from JC Penney's Worthington Collection and the sparkling cardigan is from H&M. These pumps were thrifted, cost be $3.00! They're synthetic but don't they look cool with the studs. These are great for days like today when its a little wet because the synthetics are waterproof. You can find a lot of antique looking jewelry like this beaded necklace at the thrift store. It def needed some cleaning and polishing but was worth it.

What do we think about my business card?  Good afternoon all, I would like to introduce you to the amazing new face of TF--Ms. Hazel Scott (deceased). She was a singer, actress and an amazing jazz pianist in the 1930s and 1940s who received a scholarship to Juliard at the age of eight. She was like the Nina Simone or Alicia Keys of her day--world renowned, talented, fierce and classy--gracing the covers of Jet, Ebony and LIFE magazines. Ms. Scott was the first black female to have her own TV show, and was also married to legendary politician Adam Clayton Powell. In short...she's a beautiful beast and I feel honored to have her likeness reflected on my new business card.
